Hyaluronic acid derived from Streptococcus equi is labelled with 5-amino-fluorescein giving a yellow product that is soluble in water and electrolytes. The degree of substitution lies between 0.001 and 0.005. The molecular weight is determined by GPC calibrating with dextran standards.
